My vessels showcase my exploration of material and equipment. Using a standard gauge knitting machine, I explore the potential of knit, prioritizing texture and techniques. Surface texture is integral to my practice, resulting in highly tactile, playful pieces. I create the structures using a laser cutter to form a skeleton for the knit to be attached to. I developed these colour palettes by extracting hues from impressionist paintings, such as Monet’s water lilies. These extractions are then built up to become swatches, which inform the visual composition of my pieces.

This collection of sleeves explore colour and texture, with a focus on creating a tactile experience. Patterns play a central role in this collection; I designed custom punch cards inspired by my favourite flowers found in various gardens. The joy I experienced during this process is refected in my work. These designs are showcased in the 5th photo.

This lampshade was designed based on a brief from Fritz Fryer, emphasizing a connection to Herefordshire and reflecting our unique style. Inspired by the region’s gardens, I studied the intricate forms of flower petals. The striking blue colour represent Herefordshire’s iconic bluebell fields. Crafted on a standard gauge knitting machine using elastomeric and lurex yarns, knit was stretched and stitched onto a wire frame. The lampshade features three interchangeable frames, allowing for versatile variations.
